This quintet recording features the music of these great musicians of which Avery was fortunate to perform and record with. These giants heavily influenced Avery's direction and career.

Avery's quintet on this recording consist of Joe Ford-saxophones and flute, John Blake on violin, Onaje Allan Gumbs on piano and Winard Harper on drums.

People are still talking about the World Premier of “Rhythm in Red White and Blues,” Concerto for Jazz Trio and Symphony Orchestra, The commissioned work by the Springfield Symphony Orchestra (Springfield, MA), which Avery wrote and performed along with Tonight Show's musical director, Kevin Eubanks on acoustic guitar, and Marvin "Smitty" Smith on drums, was well received and made for a special evening.
